As per reports, the FBI seized several assets belonging to Chase Senecal, a local of Brunswick, Maine, including two NFTs, Bored Ape Yacht Club #9658 and Doodle #3114, and 86.5678 ETH, which is worth $116,433. In addition, management seized a $41,000 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch.
Chase Senecal, also known online as HZ, was thoroughly investigated by ZachXBT, a self-described crypto detective who assisted in the seizure. After spending “months and months” monitoring their organization, they tweeted on September 1 that it was “a pleasure to know one of the key perpetrators (Chase Senecal) for NFT and crypto phishing attempts has been discovered.”
They connected the account used to buy the watch to several NFT hacks after the crypto sleuth tracked transactions about those attacks. 24-10-2022, a few weeks later, the FBI reportedly found and removed the materials.
In the investigative summary, Cam (the SIM swapper) traded Senecal access to the Twitter network, which he used to trick NFT holders. Senecal was apprehended after using the stolen money to purchase the AP watch. Attacks on Discord servers have been linked to the ISP used to buy the watch.
1/ Since Dec 2021 we’ve seen 600+ Discord servers compromised & 12+ NFT related Twitter accounts hacked as well. This has resulted in millions of dollars being stolen.
