U.S. Tops Global Governmental Bitcoin Holdings With Over 212K BTC

  1. U.S., U.K., and Germany are top governmental holders of Bitcoin, with the U.S. leading at 212,847 BTC.
  2. El Salvador buys one Bitcoin daily, integrating cryptocurrency as legal tender since September 2021.
  3. Arkham Intelligence’s dashboard tracks government Bitcoin holdings and transactions but does not yet include China.

According to information from Arkham Intelligence, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany are among the leading nations in terms of governmental cryptocurrency holdings. Arkham Intelligence, a firm specializing in blockchain analytics, has reported that the U.S. government possesses 212,847 bitcoins, while El Salvador’s government has been acquiring one bitcoin daily, as confirmed by its president.

Dashboard of Top Government Cryptocurrency Holdings Utilizing data from on-chain analysis, Arkham Intelligence has developed a dashboard that identifies governments with substantial cryptocurrency reserves. Arkham announced on the social media platform X last Friday that the dashboard allows viewers to observe each country’s current Bitcoin balance, their historical balance in USD, and a live feed of their latest transactions.

Arkham’s findings reveal that the U.S. government holds the largest cryptocurrency reserves, with over 212,847 bitcoins, along with a variety of other digital currencies like ether (ETH). The UK and Germany follow, holding 61,245 bitcoins and 49,859 bitcoins, respectively. Arkham’s analysis also notes that El Salvador has a total of 5,719 Bitcoins.

As per Arkham Intelligence’s on-chain data, the U.S. government engaged in cryptocurrency transactions earlier this month, while the U.K. government’s bitcoins have remained static since July 2021, and Germany’s last crypto activities occurred in January of this year. In contrast, El Salvador has adopted a proactive approach, purchasing one bitcoin daily. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele declared in March that this strategy would continue until Bitcoin becomes prohibitively expensive in terms of fiat currencies. El Salvador has consistently acquired Bitcoin since making it legal tender in September 2021.

Arkham Intelligence’s dashboard currently tracks a select group of governments, excluding China. Nevertheless, estimates from Bitcoin Treasuries suggest that China might possess approximately 190,000 bitcoins.
